Poverty exists outside India too ... but let's just talk about India for now, 'cause this is where poverty is acceptable as a way of life!
Governments talk about the 'poverty line'. This is a very invisible line. Apparently if a person can earn 50 cents a day he is above this magical line. A dollar is about 40 Rupees (for those who don't know). This amount can definitely keep a human being alive. This is what is the cost of basic existence in India.
How very conveniently we seem to forget that man does not live by bread alone... or in this case rice and curry. We forget sanitation, housing, clothing, water, education and most of all ... human dignity.
The Indian Government doesn't bat an eyelid to spend billions of dollars on sophistacted fighter planes and missiles. But when it comes to finding solutions to poverty they have no self-respect. They want missiles and armies to defend the hungry starving millions!
It is high time we realized that there is really NOTHING TO DEFEND - there is no human dignity left for us to feel proud as a nation and wave the tricolour and sing the National Anthem. Even 60 years after so called political freedom, our people are yet shackled by the chains of poverty.
INDIA IS A LAND OF TOTAL INSECURITY; TOTAL INDIGNITY; TOTAL MISERY!
This is the TRUE INDIA! ONE BILLION INDIANS ARE VERY, VERY MISERABLE - BECAUSE WE WASTE SO MUCH MONEY ON A FUTILE ARMS RACE WITH PAKISTAN AND CHINA!!!
The SOLUTION is not as difficult as it may appear. WE HAVE TO GET TOGETHER WITH PAKISTAN IN PARTICULAR AND TOGETHER GIVE UP OUR WASTEFUL EXPENDITURE ON WEAPONS.
We have to STOP our MARTIAL CEREMONIES on REPUBLIC DAY. We should not glorify our MILITARY and WARFARE in general. THIS 'PARADING' IS NO BETTER THAN THE ANCIENT TRIBAL RITUAL of showing off our MANHOOD with our spears and swords.
It is high time that India and the whole world gave up its SAVAGERY and AWAKEN to ENLIGHTENMENT. The crazy people who are our Presidents, Prime Ministers and Kings are a bunch of loonies who need to be locked up in mental insitutions. They have no right to make the lives of billions of people in this world a living hell in the guise of glorifying PATRIOTISM, RELIGION and NATIONALISM. There is just one class in the this world in this modern age and time - HUMANISM.
TOGETHERNESS and COMPASSION are the only weapns that can cure Poverty in this world.

Art of Living
Our Godmen are a very big tourist attraction. Every second tourist visiting India imagines that this is a country with great spiritual powers. I feel very sorry for these adventurers who come to India only to be taken for a ride by almost everyone - from the cabbie to the temple priest.
India is perhaps the only place in the world that offers suffering and sacrifice instead of surfing and stupidity. This is obviously a big draw with the seekers of mystery and mystics.
India is really the last stop for anyone seeking enlightenment - life simply can't get any worse! Once you've seen India - you know that it is time to seek out God and finally ask Him (Her or It) - WHY?

Bollywood intellectuals
Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar were recently seen on Television trying to convince us that the horrible nauseating movies they churn out in Bollywood is truly 'Indian' in content and that if International audiences could not consider our 'proud' fraternity of Indian movie makers for an Oscar - 'who cares'?
Are these guys that dumb? Do they not realize that our movies are really bad? If they claim our movies are not appreciated by International audiences because of some cultural differences - why do 80 percent Bollywood movies flop in India itself?
It is high time these big shots of Bollywood looked at themselves and figured out what's wrong. Nothing is wrong with the world! Why don't you guys find good stories and scripts in the first place?
Why don't you pay the writers decent sums of money instead of taking crores for your lousy act? Why don't you employ intelligent young creative people to write screen plays? Why don't you guys take some time off and try to learn the art of film making? And as for SRK - why don't you learn how to 'act normal' - instead of always stuttering, making funny noises and trying to make juvenile jokes?

Climate Change - What???
Do we ADAPT to climate change or do we PREVENT it?
It's easy to blame the Americans for their energy guzzling lifestyle - Or the Indians and Chinese for their huge populations.
Climate change is INEVITABLE ... Nobel Prizes cannot influence or inspire man to give up a lifestyle or stop craving for a better standard of living. We are not going to sacrifice anything for our future generations. This is BANDAID for cancer.
We should prepare for a future of massive climate change. Figure out what is going to happen when the oceans rise or the rivers dry up. Our future generations should be mentally and physically prepared to live with reality.... hence it would be wiser to plan now for 'ADAPTING'.
